The Light Side of Things: A Pour-Over at Flip Coffee Roasters

Sometimes, you just want a coffee that doesn't weigh you down. This week, I stopped by Flip Coffee Roasters in Singapore to get exactly that.
Flip is known for taking a precise, no-nonsense approach to specialty coffee. When I walked up to the brew bar, I spotted their massive Mahlkonig grinder and a lineup of origamis ready to go. I knew I was in for something clean.
The Setup: The Brew Bar
Flip keeps things focused. They have a rotating selection of beans, and they brew to order. Watching them weigh the beans and carefully pour the V60s is always a good sign. It means they are dialing in the extraction for every single cup.
The Bean: Nigusse Nare Murango (Ethiopia)
Region: Sidama, Bensa
Varietal: 74158
Elevation: 2100-2200 MASL
Process: Natural

Flavour Notes: Red Grape, Mandarin Zest, Purple Floral, English Breakfast Tea
The Brew:
Method: Origami Pour-over
What I tasted:
The Red Grape and Mandarin Zest hit you first. It’s bright, fruity, and incredibly refreshing over the ice. As it cools down, the Purple Floral notes starts to emerge, followed by a clean finish that genuinely tastes like English Breakfast Tea.
Because it was brewed on the Origami and poured over ice, the body was light and tea-like.
If you are a fan of light, complex, natural coffees, Flip Coffee Roasters is a must-visit. The brew bar setup is serious, the baristas know their craft, and the coffee is incredibly clean.
